If you have pain and discomfort in your jaw, the best thing you can do is define it. This means to determine the underlying cause. This can help you eliminate the problem and find the comfort you deserve. To help you do so, our dentist, Dr. Amanda Rhoades, is happy to tell you about a couple common causes of jaw pain in Cincinnati, Ohio, which are:

-Temporomandibular disorders: This is also called TMD, and it can cause severe pain in the jaw. Generally, the causes of TMD include bruxism (which is chronic teeth grinding) or the dislocation of the temporomandibular joint. Your dentist will know the right treatment for you when you discuss this issue.

-Malocclusion: This is another name for crooked teeth or an uneven bite. When you have these problems, the jaw experiences unnatural pressure and use that causes pain. This is why orthodontic treatment is so beneficial. If necessary, you can correct these issues with braces, clear aligners, or another orthodontic appliance.

If you think one or both of these problems cause your jaw pain, then you need to contact Eastern Hills Dental at 513-231-7474 when you have the chance. All you need to do is schedule an appointment and we’ll be happy to help you. We look forward to your phone call!
